TJ Ward blames Madison Beer for Justin Herbert's slow start

Former NFL safety TJ Ward has publicly criticized the relationship between Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and singer Madison Beer, suggesting it is a distraction from his professional responsibilities.

Speaking on the Speakeasy podcast, Ward claimed that Beer’s high-profile status demands time that should otherwise be spent on film study or rehabilitation. Ward suggested that the time required for a relationship could lead to a professional downfall, stating, “This girl, Beer, she’s using you, buddy.” He further predicted that Beer would leave Herbert if his NFL stardom declines.

The comments come amid a difficult start to the 2026 season for the Chargers, who are currently 0-2 following losses to Arizona and Las Vegas. Herbert has struggled with efficiency, completing approximately 59 percent of his passes and throwing more interceptions than touchdowns in the opening two weeks.
