TKO Group expands WWE sponsorship and defends Netflix partnership

TKO Group Holdings is implementing a strategy to increase the presence of commercial sponsors within WWE programming. Mark Shapiro, TKO’s President and COO, indicated that several new global partnerships are expected to launch during the second half of 2026, with many being multi-year agreements. This approach mirrors the business model TKO successfully applied to the UFC, leveraging athlete popularity and event spaces to drive revenue.

While partnership growth slowed to 2% and 8% in the first two quarters of 2026 compared to a 90% surge in previous years, Shapiro attributed this to a heavy schedule of international events in the first half of the year rather than structural issues.

Separately, TKO CEO Ari Emanuel expressed strong confidence in the company’s partnership with Netflix. Despite analyst concerns regarding slowing engagement on the streaming platform, Emanuel defended Netflix as “appointment television” that remains a primary destination for premium content. Shapiro added that Netflix continues to evolve through significant investments in sports, podcasts, and premium programming.
