Tlajomulco and Yucatán implement transport adjustments for school return
In Tlajomulco, the municipal government is deploying six school transport units, known as TlajoVan, to assist families along the López Mateos corridor for the 2026-2027 school year. Mayor Gerardo Quirino Velázquez stated that each van can carry up to 16 students and is equipped with GPS and accompanied by a parent. The administration intends to expand the fleet to 30 units by the end of 2026 as more schools and families join the program.
In Yucatán, the Agencia de Transporte de Yucatán (ATY) has implemented service reinforcements for the Va y Ven transport system to accommodate the return to classes. Rather than increasing the number of vehicles, the agency is adjusting the frequency of service on high-demand routes to reduce waiting times. Data indicates that students comprise a significant portion of users on several routes, including the 92 Avenida Jacinto Canek-Almendros-UPY and the 703 Circuito Rojo.
