Infrastructure updates: Jalapa bypass delays and Mexican water well rehabilitation

In Guatemala, the construction of the Jalapa bypass is facing significant delays. Originally awarded to Constructores Civil S. A. with a budget of 121,800,000.00 and a twelve-month timeline, the project has seen a three-year delay. The deadline was initially set for March 2023, and even with a two-year extension, completion is not expected until March 2025. This delay has forced heavy transport vehicles to continue using local streets, leading to increased traffic congestion and fatal accidents.

In Mexico, Conagua has completed the rehabilitation of an agricultural well in San Juan del Río, Querétaro. The work was performed at the Pozo del Alto de Guadalupe irrigation unit to improve operational efficiency and water use for agricultural production. This intervention, part of the 2026 Hydro-agricultural Infrastructure Support Program, involved replacing electromechanical equipment. The project is part of a broader federal investment in Querétaro aimed at modernizing irrigation infrastructure.
