Tlalnepantla police purge and gang leader arrests in Mexico
In Tlalnepantla, Mexico, the municipal government is conducting a large-scale purge of its police force to combat corruption and improve professional standards. Currently, 1,115 investigation files regarding potential misconduct are being processed. The most frequent disciplinary issues involve absences and failure to perform duties. This internal crackdown has resulted in 153 vacancies within the municipal force, with 55 procedures currently before the Commission of Honor and Justice.
In a separate security development in Tapachula, Chiapas, authorities arrested two high-ranking gang leaders, Remberto Ismael “N” (alias Little Man) and Josué “N”. The men are allegedly leaders of the Barrio 18 and MS-13 gangs, respectively. They were identified following alerts from El Salvador, where they face criminal charges including extortion and threats against President Nayib Bukele. The detainees are being held by Mexican migration authorities pending repatriation to El Salvador.
