Tlaquepaque announces road reconstruction and clarifies maintenance jurisdiction

San Pedro Tlaquepaque municipal president Laura Imelda Pérez Segura has announced a total repaving project for 1.4 kilometers of República de Guatemala – República de Chile street. The comprehensive reconstruction, scheduled to begin on Monday, September 28, 2026, will include new pavement, sidewalks, signage, and accessibility ramps. The project is expected to benefit seven neighborhoods, including Barrio de Santa María, Colonial Tlaquepaque, and Lomas de Tlaquepaque.

Separately, Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus addressed resident protests regarding the deterioration of the Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue side roads near the Fuelle area. Lemus clarified that while the state government is responsible for the central lanes and elevated sections of the avenue, the maintenance and rehabilitation of the side roads within the municipality fall under the jurisdiction of the Tlaquepaque local government. Residents of the Álamo Industrial neighborhood have reported significant damage to vehicles due to potholes and uneven surfaces in this section.
