Tlaxcala Electoral Institute Schedules 5.6 Million‑Peso Fines for Morena, PRI and PAC

The Instituto Tlaxcalteca de Elecciones (ITE) approved a schedule to retain more than 5.5 million pesos from the political parties Morena, the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) and Alianza Ciudadana (PAC). The fines stem from resolutions by the Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) and from ordinary sanctioning procedures after irregularities were found in the parties’ campaign finance reports for the 2023‑2024 local election. Morena faces a penalty of 3,098,332 pesos, PRI 2,390,957 pesos, and PAC 9,348 pesos, with additional smaller retentions of 82,992 pesos for PRI and 10,374 pesos for PAC. The total amount to be deducted is 5,592,303 pesos, which will be collected according to the calendar set by the ITE. A request by the PRI to suspend the retentions was denied, as the sanctions are already final and legally binding.
