Tlaxcala establishes permanent Secretariat for Women's protection

The administration of Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros in Tlaxcala has established a permanent institutional framework for the protection and support of women through the creation of the State Secretariat for Women (SMET).

This new model transitions from temporary assistance to a year-round service model, providing specialized legal defense, shelters, and economic autonomy programs. The Secretariat coordinates with 60 municipalities to integrate prevention, legal attention, and protection services. By securing state resources, the government aims to ensure continuous coverage and professional support to help women access justice and rebuild their lives following instances of gender-based violence.
