Tlaxcala launches new Turibús to boost tourism
Mexico’s federal tourism secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora and Tlaxcala Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros handed over a new Turibús vehicle to the municipality of Tlaxcala. The bus is part of a strategy to improve tourist mobility in culturally and historically rich destinations, offering multilingual audio guides and operating year‑round.
The Turibús will serve two flagship routes – “Barroco Tlaxcalteca” and “Conventual 500 Años” – linking historic churches, convents and other heritage sites in the capital and neighboring municipalities. Officials said the service will complement existing Mobility ADO routes, increase visitor stays, and generate economic spill‑over for hotels, restaurants, artisans and local guides.
The initiative is presented as a way to reinforce Tlaxcala’s recent tourism growth, attract more national and international visitors, and promote shared prosperity for local communities.
