Tlaxcala oversight reports 251 pending investigations amid local political shifts

In Tlaxcala, the Órgano de Fiscalización Superior (OFS) reported that 251 files involving alleged irregularities in the management of public resources have been transferred to other authorities. These include 199 criminal complaints sent to the State Attorney General's Office and 52 administrative procedures before the Administrative Justice Tribunal. The OFS auditor, Arturo Lucio Salas Miguela, stated that the agency lacks direct control over the progress of these cases once they are turned over.

Regarding the 2025 Public Account review, the OFS identified 135 million pesos in potential patrimonial damage and 4,373 observations that remain unclarified. The investigations involve municipal governments as well as branches of the Executive and Judicial powers.

In Apizaco, Mayor Javier Rivera Bonilla announced his intention to run for the municipal coordination of the Morena party. Rivera Bonilla expressed disagreement with the gender criteria established by the Instituto Tlaxcalteca de Elecciones (ITE), which favors female candidates. He indicated he will pursue legal avenues to contest this measure. Additionally, municipal officials Juan Pablo Morales Rico and Alberto Palestina have requested leaves of absence to participate in upcoming political contests.
