Tlaxcala seeks to host major sporting events in 2027

The State Institute of Sports of Tlaxcala (IDET) is working to increase the region's presence as a host for major sporting events in 2027. Director Daniel Moncayo Cervantes stated that negotiations are ongoing with national authorities and organizations to attract new competitions.

Potential projects include bringing back national cycling competitions, such as a new edition of Ruta México that could include a route near La Malinche. Additionally, Tlaxcala is being considered as a host for certain disciplines of the 2027 National Olympics. While no projects are confirmed due to ongoing discussions and competition from other entities, IDET views these events as vital for promoting tourism and local economic activity.
