Tlaxcala, Mexico rolls out school violence‑prevention strategy

The Secretariat of Women in Tlaxcala has launched an integrated strategy to prevent gender‑based violence in secondary schools and high‑school institutions. The program, running from May to November, includes eight workshops for students aged 13‑17 on new masculinities, gender equality and human‑rights education. It targets 12 secondary schools and six higher‑education campuses, reaching roughly 5,700 students, and is delivered by psychologists, social workers and gender‑rights specialists.

The initiative also incorporates public‑space sensitisation through billboards, murals in several municipalities and eight theatrical performances in local venues, aiming to challenge cultural and social factors that sustain discrimination, human trafficking and sexual violence.
