Tülin Sezgin explores identity in new book ‘Almanci-Mädchen’

Author Tülin Sezgin is promoting her new autobiographical book, ‘Almanci-Mädchen’, which explores themes of identity, belonging, and the experience of navigating between German and Turkish cultures. Born in Berlin-Neukölln, Sezgin uses humor and self-irony to address stereotypes, racism, and the complexities of life in an immigrant society.

Her work draws on personal experiences, including her time working within the German administrative system. A reading event is scheduled for September 21, 2026, at the Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg. The event will feature a discussion with Ivie Obulor, Managing Director of the European Coalition Against Racism (ECCAR), focusing on social structures, the role of administration in an immigration-driven society, and the modern meaning of belonging.
