Tlos Ancient City theater restored and solar-powered

The restoration of the theater at the Tlos Ancient City, a site on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, has been completed. The project, which involved 12 months of excavation and restoration led by Professor Taner Korkut of Akdeniz University, utilized original stone pieces to ensure an authentic reconstruction.

Coordinated by the Muğla Governor's Office, the theater, which has a capacity of approximately 8,500 people, has been equipped with a solar energy system (GES) for lighting. This green energy initiative aims to facilitate night museum activities and cultural events such as concerts.

Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık stated that the project is part of a broader effort to diversify regional tourism beyond sea, sand, and sun, focusing instead on high-income cultural and health tourism. Last year, 1.3 million people visited archaeological sites in the Muğla region.
