France's August 2026 summer reading recommendations

French media and bookstores released a series of summer‑reading guides for August 2026. In Lyon, the Expérience bookstore highlighted the graphic novel *In Waves* by Aj Dungo, while the international Damn Fine bookstore promoted Kiran Millwood Hargrave’s English‑language novel *Almost Life*. Télérama published a list of 42 favourite titles covering novels, essays, thrillers and comics, and its partner edition on the same day echoed the selection. Grazia compiled a pocket‑edition roundup featuring authors such as Virginie Grimaldi, Joël Dicker and Guillaume Musso for beach‑ready reading. Additional curated lists appeared in the Radar Noir column and a “6 books to discover in August” feature, each offering a mix of historical epics, thrillers, romances, essays and memoirs. Together, the pieces present a broad, genre‑spanning guide for French readers seeking books for the summer holidays.
