TM Renovables cancels solar plant project in Busot
TM Renovables Finca el Espino SL has abandoned the construction of the 'FV El Espino' photovoltaic plant in Busot, Spain. The project, which had a planned capacity of approximately 18.2 MW, was canceled due to rising costs that significantly diminished the project's economic margins.
Technical requirements from the distributor I-DE contributed to the increased expenses. These included mandates to install underground rather than aerial evacuation lines and the requirement to use specific 2,000 mm² copper cabling. Additional complexities regarding substation connections and land lease contracts further impacted the initial 9.5 million euro budget.
The project had previously received a favorable environmental impact statement in May 2023, which included compensatory measures to protect local wildlife, specifically nesting pairs of imperial eagles and Bonelli's eagles. These measures involved leasing land to maintain traditional crops that support the birds' food supply. Although the company requested to withdraw from the process in July 2025, the Valencian government has only recently officially accepted the resignation.
