TMB bus workers in Barcelona announce seven days of partial strikes
Workers at Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) have announced seven additional days of partial bus strikes scheduled for October 2026. The strikes will occur on the 8th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, and 29th of the month.
Each strike day will involve three two-hour service interruptions: from 9:00 to 11:00, 19:00 to 21:00, and 23:00 to 01:00. These disruptions are expected to impact commuters primarily during peak hours.
The decision follows the collapse of a preliminary agreement between the workforce and the company. While the TMB management had reportedly accepted a proposal that included progressive improvements to work schedules, a phased implementation of a 35-hour work week, and the addition of 200 permanent staff members, negotiations stalled. One union deemed the proposal insufficient, leading the company to break off negotiations. The Generalitat, acting as a mediator, concluded that an agreement could not be reached as the company stated it could not offer further concessions.
