TMO announces 2026 poppy seed procurement prices and terms
The Kütahya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has announced the procurement details for poppy seeds for the 2026 season. To ensure sustainability in poppy cultivation and protect producers, the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) will purchase blue, white, and yellow poppy seeds at a price of 140 TL per kilogram.
Eligibility for sale is restricted to producers who have declared their seed color in the HÜBAS system. Specifically, producers may sell an amount of poppy seeds up to 10 percent more than the amount of poppy capsules they deliver to the TMO in 2026. Those who do not deliver poppy capsules to the TMO will not be eligible to sell seeds.
Quality standards for procurement include a maximum moisture content of 9.0 percent, total foreign matter up to 10 percent, inorganic matter (such as stone or soil) up to 1.0 percent, and mixed-colored seeds up to 3.0 percent.
Procurement will be conducted via an appointment system accessible through e-Devlet, the TMO website, or a dedicated appointment portal. Designated collection points include various agency and temporary centers in Kütahya and Eskişehir. Additionally, the selling price for these seeds is set at 160 TL per kilogram, effective from November 1, 2026.
