T‑Mobile Issues Voluntary Credits After Nationwide Outage

On July 27‑28, a nationwide outage knocked out service for hundreds of thousands of T‑Mobile, Metro, Mint and Google Fi customers in the United States. The carrier restored service by July 28 and issued a public apology, saying it “fully restored service for all customers.”

T‑Mobile now offers bill‑credits on a request‑only basis. Customers must log into the T‑Life app or contact support and specify the outage date. Reported credits range from $5‑$15 for most callers, up to $60‑$80 for those who negotiate, with isolated cases of $100 for multiple devices. A military‑plan subscriber received a $20 instant credit. The company has not disclosed a formula for the amounts.

T‑Mobile’s statement emphasized the critical nature of its service and expressed regret for the disruption, while urging affected users to request compensation directly.
