Cboe Global Markets sells Australian exchange to TMX Group

Cboe Global Markets announced the completion of the sale of its Australian subsidiary, formerly known as Cboe Australia, to TMX Group Limited. The exchange has been rebranded as TMX Australia Exchange. In a statement, Cboe EVP Prashant Bhatia said the divestiture is part of a broader effort to refocus the company on core strengths, align capital with long‑term priorities, and maintain a strong presence in the Asia‑Pacific region where demand for U.S. equities and derivatives is growing.

The transaction follows an earlier announcement of a planned sale of Cboe Canada to TMX Group, which remains pending regulatory approval. Both deals are intended to streamline Cboe’s operations and concentrate resources on its primary markets.

The sale marks a shift in ownership of the Australian exchange, placing it under the Canadian‑based TMX Group, while Cboe continues to operate its U.S. and global platforms.
