Tòng Thanh Hoàng Arrested in Emergency Operation in Vietnam

Vietnamese police in Văn Phú ward carried out an emergency arrest of 33‑year‑old Tòng Thanh Hoàng on 31 July 2026, just 48 hours after receiving a tip. Hoàng, a resident of Tô Hiệu, Sơn La province, was found hiding in Bắc Ninh province and was taken into custody while authorities recovered numerous stolen items, including gold jewellery, a mobile phone and a laptop valued at over VND 30 million.

Investigators noted that Hoàng has five prior convictions for theft and two for other offences, and that he frequently moves between provinces to commit crimes. After the arrest, he voluntarily surrendered additional stolen goods, and the police issued an emergency detention order to continue the investigation.
