TNI and Polri lead massive river cleaning across 11 locations

In anticipation of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, approximately 3,550 personnel from the TNI, Polri, and the Jakarta Provincial Government, along with BPBD and local communities, conducted a massive river cleaning operation across 11 locations on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The coordinated effort, part of the ‘ASRI’ (Aman, Sehat, Resik, dan Indah) program, focused on several key areas including the Kalijodo area in North Jakarta, the Ciliwung River, Kepulauan Seribu, the West Flood Canal, and various rivers in Bekasi and Tangerang.

According to Kapendam Jaya Letkol Arh Noor Iskak, the initiative serves as a preventative measure against the impacts of climate change and El Nino. Beyond removing waste from rivers and banks, the activity included tree planting and social assistance programs for local residents.
