TNI awards extraordinary promotions to two soldiers for flag incident in Aceh

Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto has awarded extraordinary promotions to two soldiers for their actions during the Aceh Peace Day commemorations in Banda Aceh.

Sersan Dua Irfan Farhan and Prajurit Dua Donni Pinto Harahap, both members of Kodam Iskandar Muda, were honored for their bravery in removing the Bulan Bintang flag and raising the Indonesian Merah Putih flag at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque on August 15, 2026. The ceremony for the Extraordinary Promotion for Non-War Military Operations (KPLB OMSP) was held at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, Jakarta, on August 20, 2026.

As a result of this recognition, Irfan Farhan has been promoted to Sersan Satu, and Donni Pinto Harahap has been promoted to Prajurit Satu. TNI officials stated that the soldiers demonstrated exceptional patriotism and fulfilled their duties beyond the standard call of service by defending national symbols.
