TNI forces kill two TPNPB-OPM commanders in Maybrat

Indonesian military forces (TNI) killed two high-ranking members of the TPNPB-OPM armed group during a recent operation in the Aifat District of Maybrat Regency, Southwest Papua. The deceased individuals have been identified as Arso Aisnak, Commander of the Defense Command Region II, and Yohanes KY, Battalion Commander of Karef Hamit, both of whom were part of the Kodap IV Sorong Raya group led by Manfred Fatem.

The operation involved joint forces from Satgas Rajawali V Koops Habema, Marine Infantry units, and other divisions under the command of Kogabwilhan III. Reports indicate the use of advanced thermal technology to conduct night infiltrations and monitor enemy movements in dense forest terrain.

Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, Commander of Kogabwilhan III, emphasized that while the military will take firm and measured action in urgent situations, all operations must adhere to the principle of ‘salus populi suprema lex esto’ (the safety of the people is the highest law). He stated that the use of force must remain within legal corridors and prioritize the protection of civilians and personnel.
