TNI General Richard Tampubolon urges youth to embrace modern patriotism

At a National Dialogue held at HKBP Menteng in Jakarta, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Richard Tampubolon encouraged the younger generation to embrace the spirit of ‘Bela Negara’ (defending the nation).

Tampubolon emphasized that modern patriotism is no longer defined solely by physical struggle, as it was during the independence era. Instead, he stated that defending the nation can be achieved through various fields of service and achievement, such as excelling in international sports like the Olympics or contributing to public health, citing the response to COVID-19 as an example.

He stressed the importance of maintaining national insight, spirit, and a sense of love for Indonesia to ensure these values remain alive within society.
