Prabowo Subianto inaugurates 204 new TNI units

During the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 204 new military units. This expansion includes six new regional military commands (Kodam) covering territories such as Riau Islands, Yogyakarta, East Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, Central Papua, and West Nusa Tenggara.

The new organizational structure comprises 30 Territorial Development Infantry Brigades, 150 Territorial Development Infantry Battalions, and three Combat Support Battalions. The Navy has added one Marine brigade and four Marine battalions, while the Air Force expanded by 10 units, including radar units and the Pasgat Division II.

In his address, President Prabowo emphasized that the TNI must adapt to modern, non-physical threats such as cyberattacks, disinformation, and narcotics smuggling. He urged the military to prioritize merit-based advancement over seniority and to master technology to maintain national sovereignty. The anniversary theme, ‘TNI Strong Together with the People, Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia,’ underscored the military's connection to the civilian population.
