Indonesia celebrates 81st Independence Day with diverse regional and diaspora events
Various communities and organizations are holding events to commemorate the 81st Independence Day of Indonesia.
In Auckland, New Zealand, the Komunitas Katolik Indonesia Auckland (KKIA) organized a celebration at the Mount Albert War Memorial Reserve. The event featured a food bazaar with 45 stalls serving traditional Indonesian cuisine to attract both the diaspora and local residents.
In Indonesia, several regional activities are underway. In Majalaya, the village government held a celebration including traditional dances, a fun walk, and music performances. In Gorontalo, the General Bureau of the Provincial Secretariat used the occasion to strengthen employee communication and teamwork. In Yogyakarta, the Malioboro area's Collective Emergency Response Team conducted a safety race to improve coordination among local properties. In Surabaya, former Persebaya football players organized a special match and prize distribution.
Additionally, to mark the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the PRIMAROX 2026 hybrid fitness race is scheduled for September 26, 2026, at ICE BSD, Tangerang. The competition will feature military-inspired challenges such as ammo box and tire flip tasks, targeting 3,500 participants from the civilian, TNI, and Polri sectors, with total prizes amounting to Rp500 million.
