Portugal's RTP, SIC and TVI secure free broadcast of 20 World Cup 2026 games as Brazil's TNT Sports launches dedicated C

Portugal’s three major free‑to‑air broadcasters – RTP, SIC and TVI – have reached a joint agreement with FIFA to obtain the rights to air 20 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The package includes every match involving the Portuguese national team, the opening match, both semi‑finals and the final, with the three channels dividing the schedule among themselves. The operators said the deal ensures unrestricted, open‑signal coverage for Portuguese viewers and highlighted the partnership as a response to the tournament’s high public interest.

In Brazil, Warner Bros. Discovery is launching a temporary TNT Sports channel for the same tournament. Operating from 8 June to 20 July, the channel will provide live daily analysis, interviews and debate programmes from the United States, the tournament’s primary venue, but will not broadcast the matches themselves. It will be available on major pay‑TV platforms such as Claro, Sky, Vivo and Oi TV, with a schedule that includes shows like “Live do André Henning”, “Convocados” and “De Placa”. The initiative is aimed at capturing audience interest during the World Cup despite not holding game‑rights.
