To Lam calls for proactive national security approach in Vietnam

Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam has called for a proactive approach to national security during a review of the Ministry of Public Security’s performance for the first nine months of 2026.

To Lam noted that the public security sector has successfully met or exceeded key security and public order targets. Notably, crime related to social order decreased by 12.09%. The sector also reported significant progress in combating corruption, drug-related crimes, online fraud, and intellectual property offenses.

The leader emphasized the need for enhanced strategic research, forecasting, and early warning capabilities to identify and address risks at their source. He also highlighted the importance of the two recent central-level resolutions regarding the National Security Strategy and the development of a disciplined and harmonious society.
