Hoan Kiem Lake urban planning receives 92% public support
During a meeting with voters in Hanoi, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm discussed the urban planning adjustments for the Hoan Kiem Lake area. Reports indicate that 92% of residents support the proposed planning adjustments for the lake area, while 71.8% support the overall urban planning adjustments for the Red River sub-zone.
The planning aims to treat Hoan Kiem Lake as a central space of significant historical, cultural, and architectural value. The project focuses on improving connectivity between the lake and surrounding public spaces, reorganizing squares and parks, and upgrading urban infrastructure and amenities to benefit both residents and tourists.
President Tô Lâm emphasized that new construction projects should only be selected if they demonstrably improve the landscape and public life, backed by professional expertise and public consensus. He stressed that Hanoi must modernize without losing its cultural essence and urged city leaders to be proactive in listening to and engaging with citizens regarding development plans.
