Toast and Resy report: 7% of restaurant guests drive 50% of volume
A joint report by Toast and Resy reveals that a small segment of loyal customers significantly impacts restaurant revenue. Data from Q1 2026 indicates that just 7% of a restaurant's guest base consists of multi-visit customers, yet this group can account for up to 50% of total order volume.
Resy data shows that regulars dine at their preferred establishments 52% more frequently than non-regulars. While non-regulars average 5.45 visits across 2.4 restaurants over three years, regulars average 8.3 reservations at approximately 1.45 restaurants.
The report also highlights the efficacy of loyalty programs, noting that enrolling guests in such programs can increase return rates from a 7% baseline to nearly 30%. However, a recognition gap exists: while 48% of surveyed guests value being remembered, only 30% report consistently receiving that level of recognition.
