Tobacco cultivation campaigns begin in Granma and Villa Clara

Tobacco cultivation campaigns have commenced in several Cuban provinces, including Granma and Villa Clara. In Granma, the 2026-2027 campaign began with seed sowing at the Pedro Pompa Credit and Service Cooperative in Bayamo. Agricultural officials aim to expand production to 400 hectares through peasant cooperatives, targeting yields exceeding one ton per hectare to supply both domestic consumption and export markets.

In Villa Clara and Cienfuegos, the end of the summer season was marked by activities at the San Antonio farm. The region celebrated productive achievements, including recognition for farmers like Noel Rolando Benítez, who produced over 200 tons in the last harvest. These activities coincide with the sowing of seeds for the upcoming campaign, emphasizing the integration of agricultural work with local cultural traditions.
