Tobías Crespo criticizes Dominican security and pension policies

Dominican Republic deputy Tobías Crespo of the Fuerza del Pueblo has raised concerns regarding the government's management of special pensions and public security. Crespo characterized certain special pensions as “nominillas” (payroll lists), alleging that they are being granted to political leaders and young individuals without sufficient work histories, while formal workers struggle to meet pension requirements.

Additionally, Crespo criticized the effectiveness of the National Police reform, arguing that changing uniforms does not address underlying security challenges. He stated that the government has failed to curb crime, noting a discrepancy between official statistics and the reality of citizen safety, particularly regarding deaths during police interventions. He emphasized that true reform requires institutional transformation, better working conditions for officers, and coordinated efforts between the judiciary and the Public Ministry.
