Tobías Martínez wins Turismo Carretera Desafío de las Estrellas in San Juan

Tobías Martínez, driving a Chevrolet Camaro for the RUS Med Team, secured victory at the Desafío de las Estrellas, the ninth round of the Turismo Carretera championship held at the El Villicum circuit in San Juan, Argentina. Starting from 31st position after a lottery draw, Martínez staged a remarkable comeback to claim his second career win and the first for the RUS Med Team as an independent outfit.

The podium was completed by Juan Pablo Gianini and Germán Todino, both in Ford Mustangs, while Jonatan Castellano retained the championship lead. Martínez and Gianini are under investigation for alleged circuit‑limit violations during the race. The event also featured a fire on Uruguayan driver Mauricio Lambiris' Mustang during a mandatory fuel stop, which was quickly contained without injuries. Mariano Werner made a notable climb from 44th to sixth place. The race was run under a special format without qualifying sessions, with the starting grid determined by a lottery.

The next Turismo Carretera round is scheduled for 22‑23 August at the Autódromo Ciudad de Paraná, where the regular season stage will conclude.
