Tobi Amusan Takes Bronze in 100m Hurdles at 2026 Commonwealth Games
Nigeria’s world‑record holder Tobi Amusan finished third in the women’s 100 m hurdles at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, clocking 12.60 seconds. The gold medal was claimed by Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton in 12.33 seconds and Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds took silver in 12.41 seconds. Earlier in the day Amusan posted a wind‑assisted 12.19 seconds in the heats, the fastest time ever recorded at the Games under any conditions, but it was ineligible for record purposes because the tailwind exceeded the legal limit.
Amusan later said a heavy fall during a pre‑Games training camp left her with a knee injury that hampered her performance in the final. Despite the setback, she expressed gratitude for securing a podium place. The bronze added Nigeria’s sixth athletics medal of the tournament and contributed to a total of 16 medals, placing the nation fifth on the overall Games medal table. The final was held at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland.
