Tobias Forge announces indefinite hiatus for Ghost

Tobias Forge, the mastermind behind the band Ghost, has announced that the group will enter an indefinite hiatus following the conclusion of their Skeletour in February 2026. Forge described himself as feeling “exhausted” after completing the 70-show tour, which spanned Europe, North America, and Mexico.

In an interview with Kerrang! magazine, Forge explained that for the first time in the band’s decade-long career, he lacks a clear creative direction for what comes next. He stated that he does not intend to manufacture an album simply to meet industry expectations or contractual obligations, noting, “I’m not gonna just go back to make an album or force myself to make an album for no reason.”

Forge characterized the period as a “normal hiatus” rather than a breakup or retirement. He expressed a desire to focus on non-Ghost related projects and personal time, comparing the end of the tour to the conclusion of a major wedding where one does not immediately seek to marry again.
