Tobu Store to reopen Nishi-Ogiku branch with biometric payments

Tobu Store will reopen its Nishi-Ogiku location in Arakawa, Tokyo, on September 3 following a renovation. The update consolidates food sales areas onto the first floor to improve shopping efficiency and introduces six new full self-checkout registers.

The store is implementing ‘SAKULaLa’, a regional first biometric payment system that allows customers to complete transactions, earn points, and perform age verification using only fingerprint authentication. New product features include a buffet-style corner for fried foods and a dedicated section for local craft beer, ‘OKEIBREWERY’.

Additionally, a Sugi Pharmacy will open on the second floor in late October, creating a one-stop shopping destination for both groceries and daily necessities.
