Toby Keith recalls Solo cup sales issue caused by hit song
Country music artist Toby Keith once shared an anecdote regarding the impact of his 2011 hit song, ‘Red Solo Cup,’ on the sales of Solo brand products. In a 2022 interview on Taste of Country Nights, Keith recalled being contacted by the company because the popularity of the song led to a surge in red cup sales, causing other colors to remain unsold.
Keith’s response to the company’s concern was to suggest they simply stop manufacturing the colors that were not selling. The song, which appeared on his album Clancy’s Tavern, became a significant party anthem and remains one of the most recognizable tracks of his career.
