Tocantins brothers attempt to visit 196 countries in 1,000 days
Brothers João Vargas, 20, and Fellipe Vargas, 30, from Gurupi, Tocantins, have embarked on an ambitious journey to visit 196 countries within 1,000 days. The expedition, which began in April 2026, aims to secure two world records: being the first brothers to visit all 196 countries together and making João the youngest person to complete the circuit.
To fund the logistics and itinerary, the pair sold nearly all their possessions. They are currently traveling through Asia, having already visited ten countries including India, Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia. The brothers are being mentored by Robson Jesus, a world record holder who previously visited 193 countries.
The duo shares their experiences and travel challenges, such as mechanical failures with a tuk-tuk in India, with a growing social media following of over 100,000 people.
