Lucas Magalhães sentenced in Yasmin Macêdo case

Lucas Magalhães has been sentenced in connection with the Yasmin Macêdo case. Magalhães, the owner of the boat involved in the incident, received a sentence of 4 years and 10 months of imprisonment.

The court has placed him in an initial semi-open regime, which allows for certain activities outside of the prison facility, such as work or study, subject to judicial rules. Despite the conviction, Magalhães was not immediately imprisoned and is permitted to remain free while awaiting the execution of the sentence.

The case dates back to December 2021, when 21-year-old Yasmin Fontes Cavaleiro de Macêdo disappeared during a boat trip on the Maguari River in Belém. Her body was discovered the following day.
