Tocantins earthquake: Magnitude 3.7 tremor recorded near Sandolândia

A magnitude 3.7 earthquake occurred in the early hours of Friday near the municipality of Sandolândia in southern Tocantins, Brazil. The tremor was detected by the Brazilian Seismographic Network (RSBR) and analyzed by the University of São Paulo's Seismology Center.

While no material damage or reports of residents feeling the tremor were recorded, the event has reignited discussions regarding seismic activity in the country. Experts noted that this is the largest tremor in the region since 2015 and ranks among the three largest in the last decade for the state.

Seismologists have warned against false reports circulating online that claim to predict future tremors, stating that current technology cannot accurately predict the date, location, or magnitude of earthquakes.
