Tocantins pre‑election rally draws 10,000 supporters in Araguaína
On Wednesday, a pre‑campaign event for the Tocantins gubernatorial race filled the Araguaína Convention Center with about 10,000 attendees. The rally featured Vicentinho Júnior (PSDB), a pre‑candidate for governor, vice‑governor hopeful Amélio Cayres (MDB) and Senate candidate Alexandre Guimarães (MDB). Fifteen municipal mayors, along with councilors, state deputies and other pre‑candidates, attended the gathering.
Vicentinho highlighted concerns about the Regional Hospital in Araguaína, warning against limiting direct public access and urging the preservation of a fully operational facility. He cited a recent financial report showing R$69.4 million earmarked for the municipality, with more than R$64 million already disbursed for projects including the Hospital Dom Orione, a new children's hospital, complex‑care funding and airport upgrades. He also announced a R$1 million allocation to strengthen medium and high‑complexity care in the city.
