Tochimilco launches Chiles en Nogada season to boost local producers
The municipality of Tochimilco, Puebla, announced the start of the Chiles en Nogada season from 24 July to 20 September. Officials estimate the sale of at least 1,000 traditional dishes, generating an economic impact of roughly 250,000 Mexican pesos.
Around 200 local producers will benefit, selling fruits such as pear, apple, peach, pomegranate and Castilla walnut, as well as coffee, mezcal and artisanal crafts. The event is promoted by the State Tourism Secretariat in coordination with the town council, citing the governor Alejandro Armenta Mier’s broader tourism agenda. Coordinators Said Paleta Hernández and councilor Miguel Rodríguez Aragón highlighted the initiative as a means to strengthen community tourism, support culinary teachers, restaurateurs and service providers, and draw visitors to orchard tours and artisanal ice‑cream tasting.
