Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche formally rescinded the $1.8 billion anti‑weaponization fund that President Donald Trump had created to compensate political allies targeted by federal investigations. The move satisfied Republican senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, who had previously blocked Blanche’s confirmation until the fund was cancelled. The fund was part of a broader settlement that also included a tax‑audit immunity agreement shielding Trump, his sons and the Trump Organization from audits of tax returns filed before May 19, 2026. Blanche confirmed that the immunity applies only to the parties named in the original lawsuit.
