Todd Boehly consortium targets $20B Lukoil international asset deal

A consortium led by American billionaire Todd Boehly is planning to acquire the international assets of the Russian oil company Lukoil in a deal valued at approximately $20 billion. The potential acquisition includes refineries located in Bulgaria, Romania, and the Netherlands.

According to reports citing U.S. government sources, the deal has the support of President Donald Trump and his administration. The consortium reportedly includes the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). If successful, the acquisition would provide the group with a total production capacity exceeding 350,000 barrels per day.

The sale of Lukoil International's assets follows sanctions imposed on the Russian energy giant due to the war in Ukraine. U.S. authorities have extended the license allowing negotiations and conditional sale agreements for Lukoil International until October 22. The Bulgarian refinery is owned by Lukoil International.
