Todd Golden signs record-breaking extension with Florida
Florida men’s basketball head coach Todd Golden has signed a six-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid coach in the history of the university. The new deal, which runs through the 2031-32 season, is valued at approximately $49.5 million, bringing his average annual salary to $8.25 million.
Golden, who has led the Gators to a 103-41 record since taking over in 2022, most notably guided the team to a national championship in the 2024-25 season. The contract includes various incentives and guarantees, including a $3 million buyout should Golden depart for the NBA.
Under the terms of the agreement, Golden’s annual salary is set to increase incrementally, reaching $9 million by the final year of the contract. The extension follows a period of significant success for the program, including a 36-4 run during their championship season and a 27-8 record the following year.
