Todd Snider posthumous album ‘My Second Rodeo’ announced
The label Aimless, Inc. has announced the release of ‘My Second Rodeo,’ a posthumous 10-track album by folk singer-songwriter Todd Snider. Scheduled for release on October 9, the project arrives just days before what would have been Snider’s 60th birthday.
Unlike archival collections of old outtakes, the album consists of new material recorded during a focused period in September and October 2025. Snider intended this work to be the follow-up to his 2025 release, ‘High, Lonesome and Then Some.’ The project was completed by producer Joe Bisirri and co-producer Robbie Crowell, who utilized Snider’s voice memos, emails, and recorded instructions to realize his vision following his death from pneumonia complications in November 2025.
The lead single, ‘Solid Country Gold,’ was co-written with Jack Ingram. Snider described the musical direction of the project as ‘the sound of country music 10 years from now,’ aiming to deconstruct traditional country tropes by incorporating blues grooves, New Orleans-style horns, and hand percussion. The recordings were made at his Purple Building studio in East Nashville with a house band including Aaron Lee Tasjan, Robbie Crowell, and horn player Emmanuel Echem.
