Toddler Critical Injuries After Vehicle Collisions in Montreal and Kanpur

A 20‑month‑old child was struck by a vehicle on a residential street in the Saint‑Laurent borough of Montreal, Canada. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, which has deployed collision‑reconstruction specialists. No criminal charges have been filed yet and the toddler remains in critical condition at a pediatric centre.

In a separate incident in the Kanpur Dehat district of India, a two‑year‑old girl named Riya was hit by a car outside her home in Rasulabad. The driver fled after initially taking the child to a community health centre and later a hospital in Kanpur. An FIR has been registered and police are investigating the case based on CCTV footage. Riya is also in critical condition.

Both accidents have sparked local calls for stronger traffic‑calming measures and stricter enforcement of speed limits to protect vulnerable pedestrians, especially children, in residential neighbourhoods.
