A man and a woman with prior criminal records have been arrested following a series of thefts and a violent escape between Todi and Marsciano.
The incidents began at a service station in Todi, where the pair attempted to use the “coin trick”—dropping coins on the ground to distract victims—to steal from a woman. The attempt was thwarted by an off-duty member of the Guardia di Finanza, prompting the suspects to flee in a rental car.
Shortly after, the suspects committed a second theft at a supermarket in Marsciano, stealing a pensioner’s bag containing a significant amount of cash, a mobile phone, and other personal items. During their flight from the Carabinieri, the suspects allegedly struck officers with their vehicle.
The individuals face charges of aggravated theft, resistance, and causing injury to a public official.
