Todor Angelov elected President of Bulgarian Wrestling Federation

Todor Angelov has been elected as the new president of the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation during an extraordinary General Assembly held at the Vasil Levski National Sports Academy. Angelov, who ran as the opposition candidate, secured the position with 94 votes.

The assembly resulted in the removal of the previous president, Stanka Zlateva, and the dismissal of the existing Board of Directors. The meeting was marked by significant tension, with Zlateva and several supporting clubs leaving the hall in protest before the final votes were cast. Zlateva criticized the proceedings, describing the situation as involving “hypocrisy and betrayal.”

Angelov expressed a commitment to investing in young athletes and working to overcome the division within the sport. His immediate priorities include working to reintegrate CSKA wrestlers, such as Olympic champion Semen Novikov, into the national team for upcoming international competitions. The new Board of Directors includes several prominent figures, including Armen Nazaryan and Grisha Ganchev.
